Precedents, "firsts" or other interesting information:   January 20, 1957 fell on a Sunday, so Eisenhower was sworn in privately that day by Chief Justice Earl Warren in the White House East Room. His public Inauguration was held on Monday, January 21, 1957.
Luncheon:   The Inaugural Luncheon was held in the Old Supreme Court Chamber, and was broadcast live on television. The buffet menu featured shrimp cocktail; hearts of lettuce; olives, pickles and radish roses; roast tenderloin of beef au jus; baked sugar cured ham; Maine lobster newburg; rice piamontaise; French cut green beans; tossed green salad; assorted glace; and plenty of coffee.
